Village-sized Solar Ovens
Solar Circle has raised enough funds to send two village size ovens to Tanzania. At $13,000 each, these commercial-sized ovens provide a school or community group with powerful new ways of cooking. One Villager oven is located at Rondo Secondary School where it is used daily to cook for the students. A second Villager oven was sent to Masasi to a secondary school girl's hostel. The hostel is struggling financially right now, the girls can't pay $15 a month to stay there, and the Sisters who run the hostel can't afford to run it with no funds. Currently, they are using the hostel to house some orphans and to rent out to organizations for meetings while they look for other funds to support the girls. The Villager oven is being used to supply bread and cakes in the surrounding community. |
